12 Ports ODF (Optical Distribution Frame)
In telecommunications, a distribution frame is a passive device which terminates cables, allowing arbitrary interconnections to be made.
An optical distribution frame, or ODF, is a crucial component of a fiber optic network. It provides a central location for managing and organizing fiber optic cables, making it easier to connect and maintain them. ODF typically contain several ports or slots into which fiber optic cables can be plugged, allowing for efficient and organized cable management.
The ODF serves as the flexibility point to make connections between all types of active communication equipment hosted inside the facility, and fiber optic cable used to connect other network locations.
An optical distribution frame has the capability to integrate fiber splicing, termination, and cable connections into a single unit. ODFs are essential in various settings, from data centers to telecommunication facilities such as central offices, exchanges, cable, mobile switching centers, cloud and multi-tenant data-centers.
The primary function of an ODF is to distribute optical signals from one cable to multiple others. This process is done using a combination of Fiber optic splitters and patch cords. Splitters divide the signal from a single cable into multiple branches, while patch cords connect the splitters to the various ports on the ODF. This allows a single signal source, such as a Fiber optic switch or router, to be distributed to multiple devices or destinations.
Port Configurations: Fiber optic patch panels come in various configurations, including options for 12, 24, 48, 72, and even 144 fiber connections. This flexibility allows users to choose a panel that best fits their network size and requirements.
Rack-Mountable Designs: Most patch panels are designed to be rack-mounted, with standard sizes such as 1U, 2U, 3U, and 4U. This makes them suitable for installation in server racks or telecommunications cabinets.
Connector Types: They support various connector types, including LC, SC, and MTP/MPO connectors, which can be used for both singlemode and multimode fiber applications. This versatility is crucial for high-density fiber optic network deployments.
Cable Management: Patch panels help maintain proper cable management by providing a structured way to organize fiber cables, which is vital for maintaining signal integrity and ease of maintenance.
